Here’s some information about the stallions we have chosen to cross with our mares. We select stallions worldwide based on numerous factors. We evaluate stallions based on their pedigrees, performance records, rideability and trainability, offspring’s success, how they compliment our mares, and many more factors. Hours, and hours, and hours goes into each planned breeding, and we often select matches years in advance. There are also many stallions that, while we love, we just aren’t ready to use them yet. Perhaps they need to prove themselves a bit more… so we wait. You can rest assured we goes to the ends of the earth (literally and figuratively) to select the best matches for our mares. Here at Bay Meadows Farm, we always breed with our moto in mind: “Where Dreams are Born from Legends” and even take it one step further to say “and where Legacy’s are created.” We hope we can assist you by breeding your dream!
Totilas
Totilas (Gribaldi x Glendale) needs no introduction, as a three times World Champion and a three times world record holder. Totilas, already a living legend, led the dressage sport to a new and until then, unknown popularity: He alone set three world records, records that were only broken again by him. It took him and Edward Gal only two years to get all the possible titles one could get, twice Individual Gold and one Team Gold at the World Equestrian Games 2010, Team and Individual Gold Medal at the European Championships in Windsor, winner of the World Cup 2010, and in 2011, the best horse of the German Silver Medal Team with Matthias-Alexander Rath. At the German Championships in 2012, he won the Silver Medal in the GP Special and the Kür.
Looking at it from the breeding perspective, Totilas continuously sets new records: In 2012, he produced the most expensive foal of all time, Total Recall (knockdown price 200.000 euros) at the foal auction in Vechta. Total Ideal cost 105.000 euros at the Oldenburg Summer Mixed Sales and Tout le Monde was sold for 90.000 euros at the Oldenburg elite foal auction in 2011. Since then, 20 of his sons have been licensed, including Toto Jr. who was sold for a top price at the Hanoverian Stallion Market in Verden in 2013 at 100.000 euros. In 2016, he won the Pavo-Cup of five-year-old dressage horses in the Netherlands. Governor and Top Gear were both Reserve Champions of their licensings and Talismann (knockdown price 360.000 euros) was ranked in the Verden premium lot in 2014. In 2015, his daughter True Love OLD was 2016 Ic Brillantring mare at the Oldenburg elite mare show and highly placed at the German national championships. In 2016, after winning the qualifier to the final, she became vice-champion of Germany. His offspring are of strong character and highly sought-after for dressage sport. They convince through excellent rideability and are very successful in basic and young horse competitions.
UPDATE: We are excited to announce our Star and Keur eligible KWPN mare Divine ISF is in foal to Totilas for a 2018 foal. This foal has SOLD in-utero.
Vitalis
Vitalis was Reserve Champion at his licensing in Westphalia, in 2009, thus becoming the first licensed son of Vivaldi. As a foal in Holland, Vitalis won the Dutch Foal Championships. Vitalis is now licensed with the KWPN and Hanoverian.
In 2010, Vitalis performed well throughout his Stallion Licensing — being the highest scored stallion in the dressage phase. With an excellent HLP, in Warendorf, with 129.7 points, he delivered excellent marks for all 3 gaits, ride ability, and temperament.
At the elite auction of autumn in Münster-Handorf, the four top horses were Vitalis offspring. The two most expensive offers were 200,000 euro each.
14 sons have been licensed so far, including Veneno, who was sold in 2014 for 310,000 euros. In 2015, his daughter, Victorias Secret, was Winner of the Bundeschampionats of four mares and Geldings. Two additional Vitalis children also reached the final and the daughter “Vienna” stood at the top of the Westphalian elite Mare show.
Vitalis has been a good competition horse and an exceptional Stallion. In his first year of breeding, Vitalis was one of the most sought-after stallions in Germany and has so far created excellent breeding results.
His sire, Vivaldi, was internationally shown by Hans Peter Minderhoud, has already has 19 licensed sons in Germany. Vivaldi himself was Reserve Champion of his stallion performance test with 9.0 for walk and canter and 8.5 in trot. He won the Five-Year-Old Division of In the Pavo Cup in Holland, won in 2008 three times in the “Hengstencompetitie” and won 2009 at the finals of the KWPN-tournament series for stallions. This is where he received 10.0 for his trot. In 2014, Vivaldi dominated with his offspring at the World Cup for the six-year-old dressage horses in Verden, where his children ranked First, Third and Sixth.
Vitalis’ mother, Tolivia, was the winning mare of Limburg / NL 3-year-old mare division. The dam’s sire, D-Day, was a premium stallion in Oldenburg and LK-I approved. He went successfully in dressage and was successful up to Prix St. Georges. The great-grandfather, Argus, was successful in dressage and jumping Grand Prix and the following fourth generation gray stallion, Aktion J, together with the Hungarian Gyula Dallos, was the most successful dressage horses of his generation.
Vitalis is already ranked No. 16 on the German dressage index with an index of 157, based on only 2 foal crops!
UPDATE: We are excited to announce our Direct daughter of De Niro, Denira, will be bred to Vitalis in 2017 for a 2018 foal. This foal will be for sale.
U-Genius
U-Genius (Uthopia/Metall x Weidyfleur II / Negro) The genetics of this powerful young stallion are so interesting being by Uthopia out of the only full sister to VALEGRO. He shows wonderful willingness to work, super suspension and very good power from the hind legs. U-Genius’ breeding credentials are superlative and glittering with gold! His sire, Uthopia, was part of the extraordinary London 2012 GB Dressage Team winning Team Gold and Individual Bronze. His dam is the only breeding full sister to Valegro, who is quite simply ‘the best the world has seen’ having won every title and medal possible including Individual Gold medals at both London 2012 and Rio 2016 and concurrently holding and breaking his own World Records in all 3 Dressage categories.
U-Genius has very much been kept ‘under wraps’ until now. He was quietly made available to British and European breeders for the 2016 season and quickly sold out of the nominations available for his first full season. He is available to approved North American mares only, and a waiting list is in place for 2017.
U-Genius is a big and powerful horse with outstanding balance and gaits. His aptitude, ability and willingness to listen and learn are extraordinary. He has deliberately been slowly and quietly brought on by his breeder, being ridden by Amy Woodhead under the guidance of Carl Hester. His extremely clever brain has enabled him to learn the initial dressage movements quickly and easily. He has often taken the role of the ‘young horse’ in demonstrations with Carl Hester to give him public exposure without the pressure of young horse classes. The aim is to give him every chance to be a happy and healthy ‘long-term’ athlete while being available as a breeding stallion.
U-Genius is licensed by AES in Great Britain, and is “Erkend” by KWPN. Mares are bred to him in the German Oldenburg region already, and due to foal in 2017, so registry will be in place with Oldenburg.
UPDATE: We are very excited and proud that our super producing and premium Oldenburg mare, Roman Holiday (Roman Nature / Rohdiamant), was selected by the Hester’s to be one of the first six mares in the US to be bred to U-Genius this spring (2017). He has a very limited book, so this is a very exciting opportunity.
UPDATE: Roman Holiday is happily in foal to U-Genius and is due May 29 with this very exciting foal. This foal is offered for sale in-utero. Click here for more information.
GLOCK’s Toto Jr.
GLOCK’s Toto Jr. (Totilas / Desperados) is the first KWPN licensed stallion of legendary Totilas. In the spring of 2014, he won his stallion performance test in Ermelo with 86 points. Furthermore, he won the PAVO Cup 2015-2016 and additionally the Stallion Competition (class L and M) two years in a row. His flawless character, his extraordinary willingness and reliability combined with his outstanding basic gaits promise a great future in dressage. GLOCK’s Toto Jr. shows excellent ground cover in the walk, his trot and canter impress with elasticity, balance and uphill tendency. These attributes are passed on to his offspring which was proven in a very impressive foal report. His dam Desperada descends from Desperados (De Niro) who is successful up to Grand Prix level and was awarded with two individual silver medals at the European Championships in Aachen 2015. Both his dam and grand-dam finished their mare performance tests with high scores: test riders even gave them a 10.0 for their rideability.
UPDATE: We are excited to have obtained one of the last doses of Glock’s Toto Jr. frozen semen in all of North America!
Florianus II
Florianus II (Florestan I/Damenstolz) is a stallion with an incredible work ethic. He has very supple gaits with a lot of flexibility and scope in his movement, and he excels at the collected work. He also represents the hallmark of Iron Spring Farm stallions—athletic talent coupled with an incredible temperament.
Florianus II successfully participated at the 2003 Bundeschampionat in Warendorf, as well as the 2004 World Championships for young dressage horses. He has a strong willingness to collect in the most difficult movements of passage and piaffe demonstrating his trainability and athleticism; this was rewarded in 2006 by numerous ribbons in Grand Prix.
Florianus II produces modern dressage types, with exceptional movement and temperaments. His earliest offspring are excelling in Europe, including the Approved stallion For Set, and the international Grand Prix dressage mare Florencia B.

Sir Gregory
Sir Gregory is a brilliant son of champion stallion Sir Donnerhall, and out of a very strong dam line. Sir Gregory was a crowd favorite at his 2007 stallion licensing in Oldenburg, with his beautiful looks, super type, correct conformation, outstanding movement and very good jump
Sir Gregory is a very modern type stallion, of striking good-looks, with a beautiful head and neck. He has very correct conformation, his gaits are powerful, with a lot of elasticity, very good use of the hind leg, and he already shows a very good ability to collect. Sir Gregory also has a very good temperament, he is kind, smart and learns quickly, this goes hand and hand with his high rideability.

Dante Weltino
Dante Weltino’s (Danone I x Welt Hit II) first crop produced a good number of top foals. His son Dante Ferro won the Lodbergen Championships and was knocked down at the Vechta Foal Auction for 29,000 Euros. Another son, Damenball, brought 20,000 Euros. Dante Weltino was the 1st Oldenburg Reserve Champion in 2009, took his 30-day test in 2010 in Schlieckau which he passed with very high scores and in 2011 he placed among the best in tests for young dressage horses.
His sire, Danone I, wins ribbons up to Inter I. Four of his sons were licensed, including the second most expensive premium stallion of the Hanoverian licensing who sold for 320,000 Euros and the stallion performance test winner, Dankeschön.
The dam’s sire, Welt Hit II, was listed 2011 among the top ten in the WBFSH’s list of the world’s best dressage stallions.
The granddam, Verb.Pr.St. Riconess, is the dam of the show jumping Bundeschampion and winner of the Badenia Prize, Lumos (by Lordanos), the Brillantring mare St.Pr.A. Riwera OLD (by Welt Hit II) who has placed up to St. Georges. The great granddam Ricarda is the dam of the Oldenburg Champion Mare, St.Pr./El.St. Riconda (by Contender). This is the successful line of Richilda. Dante Weltino does not have a red factor and is therefore homozygous (EE) and passes on only dark coats (no chestnuts).
De Niro
There is hardly a stallion in existence that has had a greater influence in dressage competition sport and breeding alike than Donnerhall.
De Niro’s dam Alicante, herself, was herself successful in dressage and has produced another licensed son who is popular in Westphalia. The dam sire AKZENT II is regarded as one of the best sires of “rideability” horses of modern sporthorse breeding. De Niro’s first foal crop took Oldenburg by storm.
The overall quality of conformation and outstanding, expressive movements of his foals prompted the approval commission to award De Niro the “Hauptpraemiensieger” of 1997. The foals of De Niro are selling for top prices for their elegance, personality and way of going.
Our only access to De Niro is through his frozen semen, which has proven reliable over these many years. He is one of the memorable sires of the ages.
Governor
Totilas – Jazz – Ulft – Roemer — sounds like a pedigree for success in the dressage horse arena, as well as in breeding statistics!
Governor was the Reserve Champion of the KWPN dressage stallions in 2014. He shows not only beauty and outstanding type, but freedom and elasticity in his movements as well as a personal charm that is hard to describe.
This son of the beloved mare, Orleans, who is the full sister to Parzival, who was previously in training with Adelinde Cornelissen, and showing outstanding promise in the ring. A “preferred elite,” Orleans is the mother of Pavo Cup winner, Athens (by United).
Most interestingly, the foals he has sired are absolutely stamped by him — full of big eyed charm and elegance. His first foal crop was an outstanding success, and many more are to come, I am sure!
The depth of Governor’s quality pedigree accounts for this horse’s superior qualities. This is a young stallion to watch. And, by the way, the fertility and quality of his frozen equine semen is outstanding.
Licensed for Oldenburg and KWPN.
Bugatti
Bugatti (Bergamon/Rubinstein I/Donnerhall) Winner of the dressage phase of his 70-Day test with 140 points, Bugatti also competed at the Bundeschampionat, the World Championships for Young Horses, and competitions in both Europe and the U.S. Grandsire Baryshnikov was winner of his 100-Day test. Rubinstein and Donnerhall were impressive as both Grand Prix performers and legendary sires. Bugatti’s dam also produced the Olympic and WEG competitor Santana. Bugatti offspring typically inherit their sire’s reliable, quiet temperament and talent. He has sired two licensed sons, Premium and Elite daughters, and many inspection site champions.
We are excited to see Bugatti offspring competing in Materiale and Young Horse tests, as well as making a successful transition into the FEI arena. Their talent and trainability make Bugatti an easy choice.
